Our Limousin Herd

Limousin cattle are renowned in Ireland, Europe, and around the world as a specialist beef-producing breed. It is a favourite because of its low amount of fat and muscled frame. Originally from France, the breed has a golden-red colouring and a meat yield per carcass of up to 80 percent.

It is a breed that thrives on the West Coast of Ireland, the location of our farm at Scurmore Pedigree. We focus on ensuring our female Limousins calve easily, as this is one of the most important traits of the breed.

As well as the maternal efficiency and beefing qualities of our Limousin herd, we also prioritise ease of management as time is a scarce resource on modern farms.
